What does a rental at Breechwood Lodge include?

Your rental includes use of your cottage, private dock, outhouse and BBQ.

 

What amenities do the cottages have?

Each cottage has a mudroom, three bedrooms, living room, a full kitchen and bathroom with a shower and sink. All cottages are equipped with propane lights, fridge, hot water heater, oven and stove. Each cottage also has an ultra-quiet Honda generator that provides electricity and lights throughout the cottages if needed. The first tank of gas is included with the rental fee.

 

What items do the cottages have?

Kitchens are fully stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, glasses, dishes, cutlery, toaster, dish cloth, tea towels, coffee percolator, oven mitts.

The following consumables are provided: toilet paper, dish soap, hand soap, hand sanitizer.

All bedrooms are made up with mattress covers and sheets.

Each cottage has a fire extinguisher, CO and Smoke detector, and First Aid Kit.

A broom, dust pan, fish gut bucket, cigarette disposal can, and cleaning supplies will also be provided.

Is there transportation available from the boat launch to and from the cottages?

Yes, we provide complimentary transportation to and from your cottage at the beginning and ending of your stay. We can also coordinate mid week trips if necessary.

 

What should we bring to the cottage?

For the 2020 season please bring your own pillows, pillowcases and blankets. When packing for your trip to Breechwood Lodge please only bring biodegradable, environment-friendly, and phosphate free soaps (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap…etc.). Other recommended items to pack are: paper towels, Kleenex, bathroom hand towels, shower/beach towels, coffee, spices. If bringing alcohol, cans and plastic are preferred.

Do the cottages have running water, can I drink the water?

The running water supplied to each cottage (kitchen, bathroom and shower) is untreated lake water and therefore not suitable for drinking. Drinking water is supplied in 5 gallon jugs at no charge.   

 

What is the bathroom situation?

Each cottage has its own designated outhouse.

 

Are there watercrafts available to rent?

Yes. Motor boats, canoes and kayaks are available to rent on a first come, first serve basis.

 

What are the directions to Breechwood Lodge?

Breechwood Lodge is located on an island in Breeches Bay on Anima Nipissing Lake. There is only one boat launch to the lake and it is accessible via Anima Nipissing Lake access road off HWY 11. Specific instructions to Breechwood Lodge will be provided after confirmation of your reservation.

 

Are there grocery stores in the area?

Yes. If travelling from the south, you can stop in North Bay (1.5hrs south) or Temagami (20 mins south).

Yes. If travelling from the north, you can stop in New Liskeard (30 mins north).

 

Can I buy alcohol in the area?

Yes. You can purchase alcohol at the Dam Depot in Latchford, which is just North of the cut off to Anima Nipissing Lake access road.

 

Where do I dock my boat at the cottage?

All cottages, except for Babywood, have a private spot to dock up to two boats in front of their cottage. Guests staying at Babywood can dock their boat at the main dock by the Boathouse.

 

Will my mobile phone work at the cottage?

No. Most mobile phones will not get reception beyond the Anima Nipissing Lake access road entrance. There are some spots throughout the lake where you will get spotty reception. There is a land line in the management cottage (and gazebo) that can be used if required.

 

Do the rental cottages have Wi-Fi?

No, but there is Wi-Fi available in the management gazebo that can be used if required.

 

Do the cottages have fireplaces?

Yes. Each cottage is equipped with a wood stove used to heat the cabin in the off seasons. Firewood is provided. No open fires are permitted on the island. 

 

Can we bring our pet to the cottage?

No. During the summer (July/August) we are pet free, except for service animals. During quieter times of the year we may allow pets based on occupancy and at our discretion. Please inquire at your time of booking.

 

Do you allow smoking in any of your cottages?

No. Smoking or vaping of any type is not permitted inside the cottages.  Also, disposal of cigarette butts must be in the designated cans.  There is a zero tolerance policy for disposal on the ground or in the lake.

 

What type of fish are in the lake?

Lake Trout, Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Whitefish, and Perch.

Anima Nipissing Lake sits within Fisheries Management Zone 11.

 

How do I book a cottage?

How and when do I pay for my reservation?

Payment can be made at the end of your stay in the form of cash or electronic email transfer to breechwoodlodge@outlook.com. All funds are in CAD.

 

What are the arrival and departure times?    

Peak season check-in time: Sunday 10 am EST

Peak season check-out time: Saturday 10 am EST

Off season bookings can be flexible, please inquire.

How many people can I have at the cottage?

Maximum occupancy for each cottage is 6 ppl. Each cottage has three bedrooms with either a Double or Queen bed. We reserve the right to limit the number of guests that occupy a cottage at any given time. If there are more people than capacity limits, guests will need to rent additional cottages.

 

What kinds of wildlife might I see on Lake Anima Nipissing and surrounding area?

The area has a variety of wildlife including but not limited to: loon, bald eagle, moose, black bear, humming birds.

Can I rent a cottage in the winter?

Currently we do not rent the cottages in the winter.
